I am currently building a dataset of all instances of domestic intervention by U.S. military forces, as well as what I call "near misses" (instances when the state militia or police were mobilized but no federal intervention was requested) and instances of lynchings and race massacres. The dataset will also contain information on requesting officials, their party ID, what federal force(s) were involved, what other (state, local, and/or private) forces were involved, what type of unrest it was (e.g. insurrection, strike, protest), approximately how many casualties occurred, which force inflicted the casualties, and so forth.
